This year were are running a little behind with our goals, organizing, and interviews. We were happily in California for the first part of the month. I love cleaning and organizing in the month of January. Probably the only time I really like cleaning. I love making goals and writing them down. And holding myself accountable and looking back at my goals for 2015. I love seeing progress but I make sure I don’t feel discouraged if I don’t measure up to where I wanted to be. The word to remember is progress. I love making goals by category to try and improve in every area of my life. And I wanted to share them with you. Because sharing is caring. And I would love to hear what you want to be better at this year!
Physical Goals:
I got a FitBit for my birthday. I have been wanting one! I am so excited to move more. Now that my life is almost cleaned up for Christmas and I am in my “normal” routine I am super curious how many steps I take. And I want to increase my activity.
- Move more! More dancing with my kids. More hikes with my family. More bike rides. I want to throw in some jump roping and other random exercises. I want to do Zumba more. I want to play outside more with my kids. I want to move my body and I want to have fun with my kids. Because I want them to move more too.
- Eat more fruit and veggies. I could be better. Sometimes I am really great. But I know I can be better. More fresh veggies before dinner to snack on. More salads for lunch. More smoothies for snack time.
- Go to bed earlier. I was doing pretty great at this in the fall, but vacation has thrown off my vibe. I like how much more effective I am when I am waking up earlier and going to bed earlier.
Financial Goals:
- Redo our budget. Give more to savings. I am hoping we can swing in some dance lessons for my kids.
- Save for a home. I would love to buy a home right now. We need to make smaller goals to make this happen.
Family Goals:
- Work Harder (have my children do more chores and to work along side them.)
- Play Harder. More family time. We are trying to get our work done during the week so we can have more family adventures on Saturday. Grady is trying to finish his homework during the week so we can make Saturdays fun. And Legos. Grady and the boys want to play more Legos.
- More outside time. I love being outdoors with my kids. And we are so blessed to live in a beautiful area with so many great options. When we are outside exploring together as a family my kids forget about wanting screen time and usually (knock on wood!) get along better. We are so blessed to live in a beautiful world. I want to see more of it.
- Travel and see more adventures together as a family. Some of the places I want to visit this year: The Grand Canyon, Sedona (again!), Sequoia National Forest, The Arches, Horseshoe Bend, San Diego to show Georgiana where we got married and we can see the new Mormon Battalion Historic Site, and I want to hike the Y. Some day I would love to do a church history tour, visit the East Coast in the fall, and explore England and visit our family history locations.
Spiritual Goals:
- Start a Gratitude journal. Every night I jot down something I am grateful for . It’s a small and simple thing but I know it will bring me joy and help me see The Lord’s hand in my life.
- Study the names of Christ and how they pertain to me.
- Every Sunday night study “Come Follow Me” with my hubby so we can become better teachers for our children.
- Have the first family night of the month also be an opportunity for my children to learn how to bear their testimony and have a monthly Testimony moment at our family night.
Personal Goals:
- Read 30 books this year. I like to make my goals before I look back at my goals from the previous year. And that’s when I realized that this was my goal for last year too! I did a lot better this year if you want to see what I read in 2015. That means I should read 2.5 books a month. Which really means I should read three. I hardly ever have time to read in December.
- Learn how to do calligraphy. I have always wanted to learn. I already bought a pen and ink. And I have three months to get semi decent at it as someone in my family might be receiving a Hogwarts letter this year.
- Learn how to make French Macaroons. I tried twice this past year and I still need to practice. Maybe this will be the year!
- Build something out of wood. Still a dream of mine. I did make these small projects this past year (here and here). And I am happy to say my hubby got me a saw for Christmas. I’m pretty excited! My jigsaw made it really challenging to cut straight lines. I don’t mind it taking me several years to improve my talents.
