Meet Ginny Weasley. I know, this Ginny Weasley costume is even cuter than you imagined. And you might have been hoping she would be Luna Lovegood after we made those adorable Radish Earrings. But this girl was set on being Ginny. It’s the nickname her dad gave her so naturally it’s her favorite character. Personally I love Hermonie and Luna the most. I was able to dress her up as Hermonie when she was younger, but it’s kind of fun when you kids get to show their personality.
And don’t get me wrong. I love Ginny. She can hold her own agaisnt her brothers (remind you of anyone) and she kicks butt on the quittach field. But really my daughter doesn’t know any of that yet. We are still reading in the illustrated Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone. I love reading with her and I’m not surprised that she already loves this series. Having this 9 3/4 sign hanging up and making delicous treats might have something to do with it. These are easy and fun ways to help get kids excited about reading.
I was thrilled when we found this blank diary for her to use. And I tried to get her hair orange with a toner shampoo. I was tempted to spray her hair orange but after the mermaid pictures from her 3rd birthday and her hair staying pink for about a year I changed my mind. I mean she looked darling with pink hair. And I didn’t really mind the comments from older women. But I also love her as a blonde.
I found her skirt at the goodwill and we used her choir shirt for the base of her costume. You can click over the my Harry Potter post to learn how to make this Hogwarts robe. I know Halloween won’t be the last time she wears it. This brave and clever girl is such a light in our family. I love her fiercely. And she may only have half the number of brothers that Ginny has, she can still hold her own quite well. And you betcha I might even let out a few choice words if Beltrix came after her.
And if you don’t have time to make it you can order this robe to give you the look. And don’t forget a wand and maybe a wig. And if you are a big Ginny Weasley fan you probably want to grab this. Whether you make your costume or order it your child should be thrilled!
