As we celebrate love this month I want to share some of the favorite recipes that our family loves. Plus some new recipes I’m excited about. I also love to plan out our family nights for the month. I feel like it makes my lessons more purposeful and intentional. Usually I have themes or set lessons each month. This year our family acts out a Old Testament Scripture Story each month. We’ve also done a prophet series in the past. And I like to have family night lessons on recent Conference Talks. Although last month I was prompted to have a Religious Freedom lesson instead. These lessons, as well as the dinner menus, aren’t written in stone. Here is a peak at what our family will be learning about this month.
February 6th-A Scout is Cheerful mini lesson & Family Game (Boy Scout requirement Game Design Merit Badge). Plus it’s National Frozen Yogurt Day BOGOF at Menchie’s. Check to see if your location is participating.
February 13th- Showing Love through Service Lesson from A Year of FHE. Our activity will include making and taking cards to people in our neighborhood.
February 20th- Old Testament Scripture Story- Jacob and Esau
Dessert Idea will be Grandma Marylee’s Favorite Cake, Strawberry Jell-O Cake, as we celebrate her birthday that week.
February 27th- Family History Lesson. Assign children to learn about an ancestor and share what they have learned about that family member.
Thanks for reading along! I hope this monthly dinner menu and these family night lesson ideas help your family draw closer together. I know as we strive to spend time together as a family we develop more love for each other. Childhood is fleeting, and I want to create as many wonderful memories as possible with my children. I know there is always homework, chores, and life responsibilities. But as they grow up I hope they will remember the giggles during family night treats and the joy of taking homemade Valentine’s cards to others, and that we tried our best to gather around the dinner table every night.
Wishing your family a month full of Love!!! For more fun tradition ideas for the month of February check out this post! And don’t forget to read our family night lesson on religious freedom and teaching our children the importance of when we disagree that we remember to be kind and compassionate. And some Valentine’s Dessert Ideas….
