Sometimes we don’t see the impact of our individual acts of kindness. But each act of charity helps to light the world. That’s why I love this Light The World paper chain printable. You can start to realize the impact of small and simple things. This visual is especially important for kids who may not think they can make a difference.
At church I work with the children’s group called Primary. I help take care of all the kids in our congregation from ages 3-12. I was trying to brain storm on how we can engage our kids in the Light the World campaign. It can be overwhelming for some kids to think about ways they can Light the World. We can teach them by doing the small and simple things we can create a ripple effect of kindness. And this chain is going to look awesome in our Primary room.
That’s why I love this paper chain! Each week our kids can write down ways they helped light the world that week and we can add them to our chain. By the end of the month they can see collectively all the great things our primary is doing to help light the world. Responses can be simple like sitting by a kid at lunch, making a new friend, forgiving their little brother, helping someone carry something, sending a thank you note to a teacher, listening to their mom or planing a flower.
Most of these things are probably things they are already doing. But when we do them intentionally and help our kids recognize their feelings and help them feel the love that comes from serving others.
And you could use this chain idea in your home, scout troop, office, or any other place where you want to help light the world. I had my kids and their friends write down things they could do to help light the world and we hung it up in our loft. Involving others, especially kids, helps us to increase our circle of influence. And we can grow together as we work towards a common goal.
Check out the other fun posts we have to help Light the World. My hope is that these ideas will make it easier for you to share your light and give you more time to serve.
