Snickerdoodles are my hubby’s favorite cookie ever. And this Snickerdoodle recipe is his favorite. Cinnamon isn’t really my favorite (unless it’s mixed with brown sugar, like in our family Cinnamon Rolls) so I didn’t have a go to recipe. That’s when my husband informed me that he didn’t want just any Snickerdoodle. He wanted me to make them like his mom. Luckily for me, my mother in law is lovely and only too happy to share her recipe. Family recipes really are the best, well… if they are good recipes. I love the connection they can have and the power to strengthen relationships. And as it turns out my kids love Snickerdoodles too! Yoda told me they are his favorite cookie, just like dad. And Georgiana may have helped herself to 2 as I was taking these pictures. When we strive to preserve and record family recipes we can bless future generations feel connected. Or at least have great food.
I’m happy I can record and share this recipe with my kids. I’m sure they will want to make these cookies with their kids someday. And hopefully they will think of their Grandma and all the nice memories they have with her. This recipe is great for involving little kids. My kids love to roll the cookie balls in the cinnamon and sugar, after their hands are thoroughly washed. I may have left one cookie untouched by cinnamon. (Wish I would have at least done two plain) I’m sure your family will love these cookies too! And to give them a more personal touch, go ahead and call them Grandma Terry’s Snickerdoodles. Our family loves to make Grandma Jean’s Sugar Cookies. I don’t think my kids realized she is not actually their Grandma.
