Meal planning has blessed our family so much. I love planning our meals a month at a time. It really helps me switch up what we are eating and keeps me organized. Life with four kids can get quite crazy. I am so thankful these monthly dinner menus have helped our family have more meaningful dinner time. With less stress about what we are making we have more time to prepare and also visit and talk as a family while we eat. If one of your goals or resolutions is to have more meaningful family time I challenge you to make a monthly meal plan. Take some of the stress out of dinner. And use that extra time to cook with your sweetheart or children. Make dinner time a sacred time. Talk about your day. We love having everyone share their favorite thing from that day. It’s great to hear from everyone, reminding our children that they are all important, and not just the loudest children. And it’s the perfect place to practice listening to others. We have no screens at our table (besides my 2nd oldest calculating his carb/recording his insulin) and I love it! Dinner time is important. But if your family has a dad who works later or an occasional child gone for practice, make the best of your dinner time. Our efforts don’t go unnoticed. Little things can make a difference.

My hubby is trying to eat healthier and cut down on carbs. He took last month off so we are trying to support him by picking meals we can modify for him. He loves using a veggie tool to make his own pasta out of Zucchini. Or sometimes he will use Low Carb tortillas to make pizza. We also love having salad with our meals along with fresh veggies on the side. I don’t always list what sides I make with our meals as I wait for that week to watch the sales on what would be best.
I also love to plan out our family night lesson ideas. Family night is another great goal for the new year. I love gathering as a family to learn more about our faith and growing closer as a family. You could even keep it as simple as playing a game every Monday night. I know our family has been blessed as we gather together and try to become better. Our family loves having a quick lesson and talking over a treat.
January 4th– Setting goals for the New Year. I loved seeing what my children wanted to improve on this coming year. And they say writing down your goals has a great impact on your results. We hung up our goals to remind us what we want to work on.
11th– We have been working on the Living Prophet Series on LDS Living for the past year and I am loving it. This month we will be learning about Spencer W. Kimball.
