Light Your Community might be a favorite of mine! I love serving our community and teaching my children how each person helps and builds our village. Our family looks forward to the Light the World every December. It’s my favorite way to focus our shift to Christ during Christmas time. Teaching gratitude to my children will help them to grow up to be appreciative adults. Those who have service jobs are paid to serve and help us. But they are still serving us. And for that we should show gratitude. One of the best ways to show gratitude is to treat them kindly and thank them sincerely.
The next best way to show appreciation? Treat and thank you notes. Sometimes going above and beyond lets people know you really do notice and appreciate what they do. I knew I wanted to create an easy treat tag to help families show love to their community. I loved asking my kids who we should take treats to. Their answers: police men and woman, fire fighters, librarians, nurses, and teachers. There are so many jobs that help our community. My kids were especially excited about giving treats to our librarians. We have some awesome librarians who are so great with my kids helping them find books and encouraging them to read. Plus they love visiting our library.
Our family tries to visit our local firehouse and police station fairly often so they can know of our love. Plus we get to see them when we have scout field trips. You may remember our Fire Fighter Printable or our Police Treat Tags. This time of year we are already baking so we love to drop by and share some love with those who risk their lives to protect us. But if your life is crazy and you don’t have time to bake something no worries! Just pick up your favorite treat and attach a tag. It’s the thought that counts.
I hope you enjoy this free printable! It’s a simple way to spread love and kindness in your community. If you love this printable you can share it on social media or pin it to help spread this awesome message.
“A person who feels appreciated will always do more than what is expected.”
I’m so thankful for YOU! Thanks for helping to Light the World! I know our Savior is the perfect example on how we should treat others. As I strive to follow His example and see everyone as a child of God I will come to love them as He does.
