This meal plan is going to be a little different. This week we are celebrating Read Across America week. Or Dr. Seuss Week or Book Week, whatever you want to call it. March 2nd is Read Across America Day. Dr. Seuss’s birthday was chosen to honor him as an amazing author who has helped so many children learn how to read. Our family loves to make Green Eggs and Ham that day for breakfast or dinner. And I love to snap a picture of each of my kid with their favorite Dr. Seuss book. The Lorax is my personal favorite. I love our earth and I love the message that one person can make things better. So the first week of this month is going to be book themed dinners. This is a great way to get kids excited about literature. It can help bring books to life. Because we all know “the more you read the more you will know. The more you learn the more places you’ll go.”
February 29th- Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs Simple, easy, and delicious. Make your family some pasta and meatballs.
March 1st- Dragons love Tacos This book is a favorite and a perfect read after some tacos. Taco Tuesday! (Make sure to read that in Wyldstyle’s voice)
March 2nd Green Eggs and Ham Really easy to make. And it gives you a chance to talk about trying new things. One year we had some Sister missionaries who needed to be fed dinner. I offered to feed them forgetting what we had planned that night. I ended up making breakfast potatoes and toast too, to make sure they had plenty to eat. And I couldn’t believe they wouldn’t even try them! I mean they taste the same. I wasn’t offended but totally surprised. Hopefully when other returned missionaries, from other countries, are recounting the weirdest thing they were served these California Missionaries will have a fun story too.
March 3rd- Kreacher’s French Onion Soup. We had this last year on Harry Potter’s Birthday and my kids LOVE it!!! Bryt from Food in Literature has a ton of great recipes inspired my books. I really enjoy her blog. A great choice for Read Across America Week.
March 4th- Second Breakfast. My husband is a big Lord of the Rings fan. My oldest is on the last book right now. And my hubby suggested to take a tip from the Hobbits and make “Second Breakfast” You can make Waffles, Desert Eggs, or Omelettes. My family is all about breakfast so I am pretty sure all my little hobbits will be excited about this dinner.
The rest of our menu will be like anyone month. But this month we are waiting for our house to close so we can get the keys to our new house. Which means I am trying to use up food storage and items from our freezer AND keep things simple for dinner. So here we go…

If you want to see more great menu ideas be sure to follow me on Pinterest. And in addition to planning out our dinners I also love to prepare and plan out our family night as well.
