You may have guessed by my monthly post of dinner ideas that I am passionate about family dinner time. I absolutely LOVE meal planning for the whole month. It saves time and money. But one of my best tools for carrying out my plan is my Menu Board. It’s always such a disappointment when 4:00 pm hits and I look up what I should start cooking, only to find out it should have been Taco Soup in the crockpot. Or something that requires me to have pulled out meat from the freezer.
Having an menu board as a visual reminder is essential in saving time making dinner in my kitchen. And there are so many great menu boards that you can buy or make yourself. Today I wanted to share some of my favorites! Personally I use a chalkboard that I made in a women’s group class at my church. (Great craft night idea, by the way!) And once a week I write out what we are having. Some of my kids come home and cheer when they see what we are having. Others opt for a larger lunch. I just love being more organized. And if I am in a time crunch I ask my kids to help write out our weekly menu. They love helping and it’s great practice in their penmanship.
So here are some of my favorites…
And you could easily have a sheet of paper taped inside the door of your cupboard. The key is to have somewhere visually to prompt you on your busy mornings that you need to pick up an ingredient or start the crock pot. Do you have a favorite? Or another system that helps you feed your family? Share it in the comments below!
