In 2011 I told my Grandma that all I wanted for Christmas was copies of her recipes. It was my favorite gift that year! I am excited to share this Peanut Butter and Chocolate Chip Cookie Recipe with you today. These cookies are simple and quick. We made them to celebrate her birthday last month. I love taking time to teach my kids about their Great Grandparents. And it kind of broke my heart that my 5 year old doesn’t remember her. She passed away almost a year and a half ago. I know he knows her name and that she loved him. I am so thankful for the pictures I have of them together. And I love that we can feel close to those we love when we share something with them. I hope as we make her recipes and continue to celebrate her life and remember her that Yoda will feel close to her. Georgiana loved helping me make these Peanut Butter and Chocolate cookies. She is great at dumping in ingredients and licking beaters.
I wanted to share this in case my siblings or cousins wanted a copy of the recipe. Family recipes are meant to be shared. And I wanted to share this image of the recipe in her hand writing. I love being able to preserve pictures of handwriting. There is something so personal about seeing your family members handwriting.
Not only am I sure you will love my Grandma’s cookies recipe but I encourage you to seek out the special recipes in your family. Learn their history and share it will your children. My grandma was a bit of a latch key child. She was the oldest of three children and her mother worked full time as a single mother. She didn’t really learn how to cook until she was married. I am so proud of her example and desire to improve herself. She did an amazing job teaching herself to cook. And making food for her family and grandchildren is part of her legacy. If any of you heard the talk in the LDS General Conference where the speaker asked his mom why she was taking meals to the elderly when she was elderly I thought of my Grandma. Even when she was in her 80’s she was still cooking for others, sometimes even those who were younger than her. She is such a great example to me.
