“Ferb, I know what we are going to do today…”.
This Phineas and Ferb Party was a blast to throw! Confession: I LOVE Disney’s Phineas and Ferb show. I watch it all the time. Without my kids around. So I was pretty excited when my youngest son decided that he wanted a Phineas and Ferb party this year. Last year I bought him and his best bud a stuffed Perry the Platypus that was on clearance at the Disney store. Eventually ours stopped making the platypus sound. Our friends is still going strong. Something his dad wasn’t too crazy about on their family vacation road trip.
And because my son was turning 6, I was soaking up all the fun games and activities. My oldest is turning 12 this next year (cue tears!) and it’s a lot hard to keep a group of tweens entertained. I pretty much had a week to plan it because I was in Halloween Costume mode. (Worth it, our Family Lord of the Rings Costumes turned out great!) Sometimes I wish his birthday wasn’t in October. But that’s life. And here I am finally blogging about his party a month later.
Let’s just start this this Balloon Arch. I have been wanting an excuse to make one of these forever. I followed The House that Lars Built’s tutorial. She’s a genius! I wanted his party to be colorful so I opted with tons of colors for this arch. I would love to just choose one or two colors next time, but with different shades. It’s a great skill to have. And just in case my baby sister wants one at her wedding I will know what I am doing.
Another fun way to add color is to make pinwheels. They are fun and whimsical, perfect for a 6 year old. Well, okay he was bummed they didn’t spin. But it was a cheap and easy way to add color to our party table. And because I made them while I was watching TV at night, I realized I had more than I needed. So I was happy to add them to my balloon arch. I love how they look. I used baker’s twine for my pinwheel garland and followed this trick I learned from Phineas and Ferb for making banners and buntings.
Phineas and Ferb Party: Food Ideas
I usually like to read up and study before planning a party to incorporate some themed treats. But since I’m already a huge fan I knew exactly what to make…
- Phineas and Ferb’s Lemonade
- Slushy Dawgs Corndogs
- Muffins from Norm (“It’s muffin time!”)
Plus I made some Perry the Platypus popcorn and pretzel rods inspired by Phineas and Ferb.
My son loved his Perry the Platypus cake. I made this amazing chocolate cake recipe (I’ll have to share it later!) in a loaf pan. It was perfect for a platypus mold. I used How Does She’s Marshmallow Fondant to cover our platypus. His eyes are just large marshmallows, cut in half, with chocolate chips on them. The cake was amazing. But kinda a bummer to learn my son doesn’t like fondant. Not even this super delicious fondant.
Phineas and Ferb Party Decor Ideas
There aren’t a ton of Phineas and Ferb party decor items. I decided to stick with keeping it colorful. I loved using the Balloon Arch and pinwheels. I picked up some orange containers from the dollar tree to hold some treats. I used my teal frame and threw in some word art the read, “Hey, Where’s Perry?”. You might have recognized the frame from his little sisters party.
And I bought some fake grass. I love the backyard feel it gives. I know I will use this patch of grass again. And we had to make our own Balloony. My kids favorite Balloony quote is when they show Doof a video of his beloved childhood friend popping. The voice over, which is quoted all the time at our place, says “Just kidding. The real one popped 3 weeks ago.” I love these little inside jokes that make them crack up together. I just used a black sharpie on a cream balloon. I bought two balloons just in case. And I’m thankful for that prompting. The first face I drew wasn’t as cute. Definitely start with the eyes first.
Phineas and Ferb Party Games
We played Where’s Perry? My husband hid our stuffed platypus and the kids had the best time looking all around for him. Super easy if you have a stuffed platypus. The kids were distracted by the balloons and trying to make sure everyone knew each other. My son didn’t even notice my husband took his Perry.
We also played pin the tail on the platypus, had a corn hole toss with two teams (Team Phineas and Team Ferb), an egg relay race, and played “Perry, Perry, Doof”. The last game is like Duck, Duck, Goose, but a little more fun. That was one of my favorite parts of the party. The innocence of playing simple games. Sometimes my husband would remind the boys to choose a girl in “Perry, Perry, Doof”, but I loved seeing so many boys and girls play together.
The corn hole was especially fun. They were so great about cheering for each other. I love games where everyone is kind and encouraging.
If I were to do it again I would probably package the popcorn and pretzels up so they could take them home with them. Really we had too much food. And my children were in heaven. I never buy corn dogs. Sometimes I can be a nice mom.
This boy had a great time! He said it was his favorite party ever. (But I still really like his Mo Willems Party from last year) I hope this gives you some ideas if you are looking to throw a Phineas and Ferb Birthday Party. Or maybe you are just planning a neighborhood movie projection night and need some fun treat ideas. Thanks so much for reading.
