I love finding roadside treasures! A couple of months ago I found a bunch of really great items laying out on our large trash pick up day. I was especially excited about two older frames. Personally I love older wood frames! They made frames from pieces of wood, not pressed wood. They are usually large and decorative. The frames I found were gorgeous and sturdy. I couldn’t wait to paint them. I love the transformation a little paint can add. This frame is now lighter and gives a younger look. The before shot isn’t terrible. I actually like dark fames. But this frame looks so much happier with it’s new paint coat.
And I was able to fit a painting from my husband’s Grandmother in perfectly. I am sure she is beaming in heaven and glad to know I have another one of her treasures on my wall. And I love how my paint choice compliments the painting. She painted this piece in 2005. I have decided to give it to Gandalf someday. But he may need to get his own frame.
Folk Art Home Décor Chalk Paint in Seaside Villa
I tried using Folk Art Home Décor Chalk paint (see link above) and I was really pleased with it. I ended up using 3 coats but only needed 2 for my other frame. I am working on my hall way wall right now. I am putting different art pieces that I have here. I hope my children are inspired as they see different styles of art in our home. I do love beautiful things. This project was simple and easy. I just painted it one with a sponge applicator. I love that there is no prep work for this project. I just wiped down the frame (it was laying on the side of the road after all) and started painting. If you want to see what I have done with other roadside treasure, or Monday Treasures, you can click the link.
What do you think about her makeover? I can’t wait to show you my other frame! Thanks for reading and be sure to follow us on Facebook!
