You may have remember that I love the first Monday of the month. It’s the day where you can set out your large trash to be hauled away. It’s the perfect time to going “treasure hunting” after I drop off my older two at school. Sometimes I call them Monday Treasures. I love driving around looking for awesome roadside treasures. I haven’t had time to work on these items with so many Halloween costumes to sew. But I really need to work on these projects. I am hoping to finish them all before the first Monday in December. I love driving by and deciding if something has potential. I found this goodie in September.
If I had a loft right now I would have grabbed the train table it came with. Georgiana loves trains and cars. But we just don’t have the room. But those drawers are golden. And instead of them ending up in a landfill, why not solve my under the crib storage problem. They happen to fit perfectly under my daughter’s bed. So much easier to pull out a drawer to grab the bulky toys we store under there. And easier to keep them organized. They defiantly needed some cleaning. Another reason to love Magic Erasers. And I had to buy some new cording for the pulls which I was able to find at Joanne’s.
Because of some slight damage I wanted to cover the front of the drawers with paper. I love the detail they add. And because they are pressed board I didn’t really want to paint them. Using a ruler I figured out my measurements. I also like to turn my first paper I made over and trace the second one so they match perfectly.
Using Mod Podge I applied the paper to the front of the drawer. I found a pencil was the perfect tool to help create the hole through the paper. Do this to both drawers. It would have been great to have the drawers match, but I didn’t want to buy more paper. So I opted for coordinating prints.
Here is Georgiana’s crib in her room. I made her quilt, bumper, and duster. And I was thrilled to find those sheets at Target. Because I already had a navy dresser from my boys room for her to use I didn’t really want to paint it again. I just love the color. So I decided on coral and navy. Although this coral is kinda pink. It was the best fabric I could find in LA for my budget. I picked paper that would look great with her room even though you can’t really see them.
I loved how they turned out! Not bad for just the price of the cording. I found it worked best to wrap the cording with tape to thread it through the hole. Now her toys are easily accessible. And who doesn’t want to make toys easily accessible to their two year olds. And I love that it makes clean up a breeze.
The wheels on the drawers make them easy to pull in and out. I love saving money and organizing my home. Now I need to keep my eyes open for some more drawers for my sons. Their room really needs it. But They fit so perfectly in her room.
So much easier to keep her room clean. Although she is a gem and loves to clean and keep things organized. So thankful for those blessings! Everyone needs at least one child who likes to clean.
I hope this helps you look at road side items a little different. I love what a little elbow grease and creativity can do. Be sure to find me on Instagram to see more road side treasures and projects I am working on. I found some really fun items that little sister is crazy about! Be sure to check out my other Monday Treasures by clicking on the tag. And I can’t wait to show you what I found next…
