Baby Sprinkles are kind of my favorite. And this Sweetie Pie Sprinkle Idea really takes the cake. I mean, pie. A sprinkle is a mini baby shower or get together where you can celebrate the birth of a new baby. It’s perfect idea when you have a friend who is expecting their 3rd or 4th kid. What I love about Sprinkles is that you can celebrate a new baby simply by getting together. You can let friends know gifts are not needed or you can have friends bring a freezer meal. It’s not about presents or games, it’s about great food and wonderful friends.
My girlfriend Janece was expecting her 4th baby on May the 4th. And although it was tempting to throw her a Star Wars Sprinkle, I knew this idea would be a perfect fit for her. We gathered as friends to celebrate her little sweetie pie while visiting and eating pie. Doesn’t that sound like a dream? Friends and pie??? We threw this baby sprinkle in my crazy birthday month so keeping it simple was ideal. She told me I didn’t need to do anything for her, but when you have friends pitch in it makes for an easier party. And I love any excuse to make pie!!!
Her amazing sister Kristi was more than happy to help host this party. She offered up her beautiful home for the Sprinkle. I love Krisit’s kind heart and how easy it is to chat with her. And I am sure I was inspired to ask her to help because Janece told me she was the family pie maker. She’s known for her delicious pies. And they are gorgeous! Speaking of talents, she also runs this local etsy shop, TaterTotMoccs, where she specializes in baby mocs. How darling are the new shoes she made for her baby niece? Aren’t they just the cutest??? You can keep up with all her new styles on her Facebook Page. I got a darling pair when Georgiana was born. And when I have my next baby I have like 5 pairs I want to get. I love having talented friends!
Kristi and I both decided to make two pies for the Sweetie Pie Sprinkle. She offered to make her Salted Caramel Apple Pie and Fresh Strawberry, which were both heavenly. Of course to make things easier you could always order pies. Kristi got some cute straws and paper goods while I made some decorations. Since her house was so beautiful and inviting we didn’t need to do much. And remember the point of the Sprinkle is to gather as friends and eat great food.
I made this simple fabric banner with navy, pink, and blush. Fabric banners are great because you can use them again for another event. Just pick out material that won’t fray and cut long strips with your rotary cutter. Or you can also pick up some ribbons or lace. I love using this Fray Check for ribbons that tend to fray. I had some extra lace material (that will eventually be a skirt for my girl) that we placed on the island with the pies. Kristie had this cute galvanized bucket which was perfect for flavored milks (a must for most pie lovers). And I brought some frozen fruit to make flavored water, by preferred drink choice. I sometimes forget people like milk. It all just came together because I had just bought these darling galvanized cake stands from Joann’s. I love that they go with pretty much everything.
Another easy way to make a table look beautiful is with fresh flowers. Aren’t these gorgeous flowers from Trader Joe’s the best. And you can let the mother-to-be take home some flowers as she waits for her sweetie pie to arrive. I sprayed painted these mason jars years ago for our friend’s shower. I love how beautiful everything looked. Little touches like flowers and food labels make your event feel extra special without spending a lot. I made the printable food labels to match the invitations I made. I know that when I attend a shower or party, the thing I most look forward to is the chance to visit with friends. Preferably without my kids. Creating a cozy environment that encourages conversation always makes for a great get together.
Oh, and the food! I made Lauren’t Latest Chocolate Silk Pie, or as she calls it The Pie That Got Me Married. It’s one of my favorites, and really rich. Be sure to have some fresh whipped cream for your guest to enjoy. I also was able to make Two Caroline’s Famous Chocolate Cinnamon Mousse Pie. I’ve been wanting to make this pie for some time and man I am so glad I did. My girl Caroline is known as the Queen of Pie and her recipe was a hit! Layers of meringue and light fluffy mousse chocolate topping. I used her King Crust recipe, which is the easiest crust recipe ever. It always turns out great! And I am not known for my pies.
You can see it doesn’t take too much to have a fun girl’s night. I love this trend of simple getting together and celebrating important events. As mothers we have a lot on our plates. We can take time to support our friends and nourish and strengthen our friendships by celebrating together. And we don’t have to be overwhelmed with making everything big. Let’s not wait till our house is perfect or we’ve perfected our pie crust to have people over. The simple decorations are fun and I enjoy doing them, and reusing them. But the truth is any friend would be thrilled if you gather as friends and ate pie to celebrate her new baby. And again, after you make this King pie crust, you will have pretty much perfected it.
