Little hands are perfect to help hold your pretzels upright as I scooped up chocolate on the side. I love using my 2 cup pyrex glass measuring cup. I can heat the white chocolate right inside that container. I like to use the microwave because it’s quicker. Then I use another bowl for my dark chocolate. I went ahead and broke out my frosting tips to help control the flow of chocolate. Instead of just using a ziplock bag, I placed my frosting tips inside and chose tip #1 for the drizzle strip I wanted. I like to place my ziplock inside a child’s cup and then pour the chocolate inside. Then I remove the air and seal the bag. Just twist and start decorating. I just don’t want to waste any dark chocolate, because that is my favorite.
Place your pretzels in the fridge to set. I love using my silicone mats (reusable and quick). Then you are ready to drizzle on your zebra stripes. You can have your child help you or they can do it themselves. Or if they are really little you can have them count while you do it. Each time you reach a number you can to start drizzling in a new section. The point is to create these treats together. And my daughter knows that she is really good at pouring, stirring, and spreading things.
And there you have it- Zebra Pretzels! Perfect for a Zoo or Safari Party. Or for Valentine’s Day. I’m sure everyone in your family will go wild for them. My daughter was so proud to tell her brothers what she helped mom make that day as we drove home from school. They all asked her if she could share them and she happily answered “Sure!”. I love it when they praise her for a job well done. I know she feels the pride and happiness that comes when you make something for someone.
These treats are the perfect combination of salty and sweet. You might notice one missing from above. We wanted to share one with our Green Mango Pest Control worker who keeps our house scorpion free. I love sharing the treats that we make in our home. - White Chocolate Bark (I used 3 blocks)
- Dark Chocolate Chips (about 1/2 cup)
- Pretzel Rods (3/4 of the bag)
- Canola Oil
- Heat your white chocolate in a microwave safe container. Heat 30 seconds at a time and then stir. Add a small amount of canola oil if needed.
- Dip pretzels into white chocolate. Place on parchment paper or silicone mat. Refrigerate to set.
- Meanwhile, heat your dark chocolate in a microwave safe bowl, stirring every 30 seconds.
- Pour into a clipped ziplock bag.
- Drizzled over the set pretzel rods.
- Return to the fridge to set. Store in a cool dry place or keep them in the fridge depending on the weather.
- I like to use a little canola oil to make the white chocolate smoother.
